Fish Market, Bahrain’s go-to seafood restaurant
Isn’t it fun to head off the beaten path…head out a bit from your usual spots, not have to worry about parking and loud drunk brunch-goers tripping over the place.
Well, that’s exactly what it was like when we headed to Fish Market this weekend for a long, lazy lunch with friends. It had been about a decade since I have visited the place, nestled by the water down in Al Bander Resort…and nothing has changed!
It’s as if a time machine has kept the place in perfect condition for all these years (and I guess years before that even), the exact same time machine that has been used for the Gulf Hotel and perhaps even the Golden Tulip.
The Fish Market at Bander is a joy. Laid back, perfect for groups, comforting and nostalgic with seamless service. It’s time warp means that there is something charming and quaint about the style, especially against the backdrop of so many ‘instagrammable’ restaurants out there these days.
We booked a table on the terrace and languorously ordered dishes throughout the sunny afternoon (which was rudely interrupted by THAT sandstorm). White wines were poured, glasses clinked, and foods were served.
A signature here, their homemade tuna and tahini dips with fried bread are brought out first. Then we followed them with:
A faultless lunch with good friends and good food. What more could a girl want.
Thank you, Fish Market, for remembering how to charm us all.
UPDATE: June 2022, Fish Market have opened a 2nd location in Bahrain Bay. For now they don't have an alcohol licence, but it seems to be in the process. Stay tuned for Hungry Fifi updates on this!
