When it comes to casual dining in Bahrain, it’s not just about the food...it’s about the atmosphere, creativity, and overall vibe! From Egyptian soul food to reimagined ramen bowls, here are three fantastic spots that prove casual meals can be just as memorable as fine dining experiences.
Zooba has everything you could want in a casual dining spot: bold flavours, fun branding, and a deep connection to Egyptian culinary heritage. From the moment you walk in, the vibrant décor and quirky packaging put a smile on your face, but it’s the food that steals the show.
The highlight? Their tameeya (Egyptian falafel) and hawawshi sandwiches; comforting, hearty, and packed with flavour. The hawawshi, a crispy bread stuffed with spiced meat, is so indulgent you might want to share it to avoid waddling out, as I did! Pair it with their outstanding olive labneh dip or other mezze options for a feast that truly satisfies.
And for my readers outside Bahrain, good news! Zooba is spreading its wings, with a branch already open in NYC. Here's hoping this Egyptian gem conquers the world one bite at a time.

Located in the chic Bahrain Bay area, Biba is a design treasure with a gorgeous interior that feels both cozy and sophisticated. While the restaurant is alcohol-free, it is still worth a try for the all-rounder menu and dishes.
Standout dishes include the chicken musakhan, a Palestinian-inspired dish featuring tender chicken rolled in flatbread and bursting with sumac. Of course start off with cheese samboosa , their refreshing tabbouleh salad and plenty of other mezze items, and you’ve got yourself a delightful meal that satisfies without breaking the bank.
Biba’s laid-back elegance makes it an ideal spot for a casual lunch with friends or a relaxed dinner. It's location by the water in the Bay, makes it perfect for a stroll post-meal to help digest.

Ramenara is Bahrain’s answer to the ultimate comfort food: ramen. Born from the much-loved Ramenaki pop-up, this sleek, permanent spot in Seef brings a modern edge to casual dining. With its large windows, cool interiors, and convenient location, Ramenara strikes the perfect balance between stylish and approachable.
The menu is packed with options to suit every palate. From beef ramen to vegan and seafood varieties, the dishes are brimming with rich, umami flavors. Vegetarians will appreciate the creative starters that celebrate vegetables in a way that feels fresh and exciting. Wash it all down with one of their cocktails, which are just as inventive as the food.
With its fair pricing and attention to detail, it’s no surprise that Ramenara has quickly become a favourite among locals. PS. I hear their burgers are outstanding too!
