Monaco? No, Muharraq

Monaco?

Palestine Nights Restaurant might have you guessing what blissful place you might be dining at, with its sea views, boat moorings and outdoor vibe.

Based on one of my favourite developments on the island, Sa’ada, this restaurant opened up a few years ago and has been a popular choice of residents, tourists and of course bloggers. So I've been keen to try it for a while!

On my rainy day visit, we headed upstairs to the terrace for views and to gorge on melted cheese (Did I just find the best cheese rolls in Bahrain? Perhaps perhaps perhaps!).

After pouring over the extensive menu we opted for their hefty sumac and onion packed Musakhan Rolls, Hummus Fattah, Zunkul cheese rolls which were outrageously good and Shakriyeh, which is another version of Mansaf with meat chunks in a yoghurt sauce ( I loved the sauce, not so keen on the grizzly meat).

For those new to Fattah, it’s layers of fried bread pieces, tahini sauce, and in our option today, chickpeas. A moorish and filling option to try out. I’ve been enjoying kebab and aubergine versions too recently.

Next up, the piece de resistance…their creamy cheesy Kunafa for dessert. Crunchy, sweet and everything in between. Save room for this star and wash it down with plenty of tea, before heaving yourself for a stroll around our teeny strip of Monaco 😉
