Barbados: The Foodie Guide

This gorgeous West Indies island has been a home from home to me for most of my life, from visiting as a young teen to spending time with my family here as an adult. It is a special place I am lucky enough to regularly visit.

Over the years I’ve watched the food scene grow, change and metamorphize. From the heyday of Groots and The Cliff, to the continuing popularity of Friday night at Oistins.

Some of my favourite places to visit

ECO Lifestyle & Lodge

An idyllic spot on the East Coast of Barbados. Come here for outstanding dishes, fusing local flavours and created by talented Executive Chef Alisha. A popular spot for brunch, make sure to book well in advance.

The Local, Speightstown

A newer eaterie up in pretty Speightstown, the Local highlights local ingredients and produce in their creative dishes. Head here for a gorgeous meal on the pretty deck, a browse in their boutique and some excellent cocktail.

La Cabane, Batts Rock

A beautiful beach restaurant & bar, La Cabane is located on the idyllic and tree filled Batts Rock. Watch out for live music nights and enjoy their excellent Rum Punch.

Mount Gay Tour

One of Barbados most famous exports (along with Rihanna!), the Mount Gay rum tour is a fun & educational experience around their disiterlly. Their wise and witty tours are both informative whilst also being enjoyable. My favourite part: they encourage drinking throughout the tour!
