Stunning views on the Coastal Walk

Midtown Oyster Bar: Overall, this one was of my fave spots, as it is a great all-rounder. You can choose from their sunny terrace or wood panelled interiors. I was lucky enough to visit twice and scoffed a range of food from delectable oysters to what might have been the best lobster roll of my life.

The Vanderbilt Hotel’s Oyster Happy Hour: Another oyster haven, but with a more refined vibe. A great place for a special meal with a side of New England charm. The Mansion Oyster Happy Hour is available daily from Sunday to Friday from 4pm to 5.30pm with half off oysters. PS They allow dogs too.

Bottega Bocconi: This Italian deli right next to Flo’s serves up fantastic Piadine sandwiches. Served between wafer thin flatbreads with stuffings like mozzarella and mortadella. I scoffed down one of these so fast! Perfect pre or post Cliff Walk fodder.  Why not pick up some of their pre-made soups or dishes in the fridge to enjoy at home. I certainly did.

Food Love Market: If you’re looking for an excellent grocery store with on-site deli, freshly prepared foods and more. I advise you to head here. I spent quite a bit of time stocking up and browsing their shelved, and had a wonderful picnic with their breads, cheeses and hams.

Newport Vineyards & Restaurant: Head here for a perfect afternoon, with views of the vineyards, plenty of wines to try and a laid-back atmosphere. On my visit we got to listen to live music and nibble away at a cheese board of local varieties. PS make sure to take time to browse their large boutiques (a bit dangerous on the credit card when you have had a few glasses of vino!).

White Horse Tavern: The oldest taverns in America! This historic spot has been serving food since 1673 and still offers classic, hearty New England dishes. Worth stopping by but be warned they book up early.

Matunuck Oyster Bar: Is everything I ever want from a restaurant. On the water, with views, elegant but with a laid-back nautical charm and outrageously good food all washed down with a Sancerre. They are committed to serving fresh, locally grown produce with farm-raised and wild-caught seafood, many from their own oyster farm. Their wine lists are also some of the best I’ve seen for a long time too!

Flo’s Clam Shack: A local institution that’s been serving up fresh clams, fried seafood, and lobster rolls for decades. Casual, unpretentious, and with views of the beach, this place screams summer.
