How to throw a Bagel Brunch Party

I'm a HUGE bagel fan and recently went all in on with a bagel brunch party for friends.

This is a low key, easy way to have people over without doing too much cooking. You can prep last minute and cater to all kinds of taste buds and requirements.

What I served up on the bagel boards:

  • Lots of types of bagels (sesame, everything, chocolate, plain etc), sliced up
  • 2 kinds of schmears: a regular cream cheese & a chive cream cheese
  • Jammy eggs (using this excellent recipe)
  • Smoked salmon
  • Cooked bacon
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Hummus
  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Jams
  • Mimosas to drink

Bagel party tips:

Bagel Bar Setup: Arrange the bagels on platters, boards or in baskets, and provide separate dishes or bowls for each topping, spread, and condiment. Use labels or small signs to indicate the different flavours or types of bagels and toppings.

Bagel Selection: Offer a variety of bagel flavours, such as plain, sesame, poppy seed, everything, or cinnamon raisin. Consider including gluten-free or vegan options to accommodate dietary preferences or restrictions.

DIY: Encourage guests to customise their bagels according to their preferences. Provide serving utensils, knives, and spreading tools so that everyone can create their perfect bagel sandwich.

Toppings and Spreads: Provide an assortment of toppings and spreads to accompany the bagels. Classic options include cream cheese, butter, lox (smoked salmon), sliced tomatoes, red onions, capers, and fresh dill. You can also offer flavored cream cheeses, such as scallion, strawberry, or jalapeño.

Do you love bagels? What else would you have added to your bagel board?
